Image rights, caring and well-being for everyone
Multimedia in all its forms is very present in society. We can photograph or film using our mobile phones, and these devices are becoming increasingly smaller, more portable and easier to access and use. However, it is important to bear in mind the dangers of sharing data without the knowledge of the people portrayed in the photos or films.
The publication of images on internet platforms requires the informed consent of each person in the images, for reasons of image rights and respect for privacy.
A few simple precautions can be taken to minimise the risks of violation of image rights and personal safety:
- The person taking pictures or videos must ensure that each person in the frame consents to appear in the shots. As far as possible, the photographer or cameraman should be responsible for this process, so that people wishing to preserve their image do not have to come forward.
- During gatherings (general assemblies, workshops, etc.), those filming or photographing can specify an angle of vision outside of which anyone not wishing to appear in any shots can position themselves.
